Climate change does directly intervene in the alpine water cycle. Experts anticipate less precipitation in summer as well as further rise of the snow line and ongoing meltdown of glaciers. What effects will those shifts have on alpine regions? Will there be a "water emergency" in Switzerland? These questions will be discussed at the fourth annual meeting of the "Mountain Water Network" (Kompetenznetzwerk Wasser im Berggebiet). As every year, the meeting will be closed by the Swiss Mountain Water Award. |
