Aquawareness Second Stakeholder Meeting

On the 27th of May the second stakeholder meeting of the EWP Aquawareness programme took place in the European Parliament in Brussels. This meeting brought together stakeholders from all sectors to discuss progress within the Aquawareness programme and to discuss the draft text of the Water Vision for Europe.

This EWP initiative aims to support the shift of mindset in Europe towards a water saving and water efficient culture, to create awareness among political decision makers, key stakeholders and citizens and to support the change of behaviour and practices. Aquawareness is being developed in cooperation with a wide range of stakeholders as a direct response to the recent EC Communication on Water Scarcity & Droughts. The programme is underpinned by the Water Vision for Europe which will express the challenges, opportunities and chances Europe faces, presenting a future for Europe on water.

The EWP would like to receive the input of as many stakeholders as possible in the process of drafting this document and any comments can be sent to Agnes Biesiekierska, EWP project manager. The Water Vision is also part of the efforts in the European Regional Process leading up to the fifth World Water Forum in Istanbul.

Water Management in Eastern England

The eastern part of England also is partly reclaimed from the sea, centuries ago. The marshlands now are a valuable agricultural area. Of course, maintenance is needed to keep the water where it belongs and at the same time making it work.
